See the outfit, not a different person
A useful virtual try-on should change the clothing and leave the rest of the photograph alone. This tool sends both images together: your photo sets the identity, pose, proportions, scene and light, while the outfit image supplies the colour, cut, pattern and fabric. The model is told to replace only the clothing that the new garment covers.
Choose a person photo that shows the fit
Match the framing to the clothes you want to test. Use a waist-up photo for a shirt or jacket and a full-body photo for a dress, suit or trousers. Face the camera or turn only slightly, keep your arms away from the main garment area, and use even light. A clear phone photo is enough; a tiny, dark or heavily filtered image gives the model more to guess.

Give the AI a clean garment reference
Flat lays, hanger shots, mannequin photos and clean product images work best because the full garment is visible. Use a front-facing image with the neckline, sleeves and hem inside the frame. A model photo can work when the outfit is unobstructed, but crossed arms, bags and busy styling can hide details the AI needs to copy.
What a virtual try-on can and cannot tell you
The result is useful for judging colour, print, silhouette, length and overall proportion on your photograph. It is not a measuring tool and does not know the garment's real dimensions, stretch or feel. Check the seller's size chart before buying, and treat fine logos, tiny text and exact tailoring as an approximation.
